TCXD850 Rev 2

The first revision of the TCXD850 software is available for download now from NewTek.

 To say this is a major update is to understate the wholesale change in work flow involved. The original release was very similar to the interface of the TCXD300 but with this new release NewTek has adopted a more industry standard work flow. This is mostly to accommodate the 850CS control surface by allowing the user to 'delegate' certain functions to various controls.


I'm in the process of re-writing my detailed hands on review where I'll go into more detail. Suffice it to say that do not install this update an hour before a live event 'cause your gonna want to study up a little before using it. All in all it's a good upgrade and if you plan on using the 850CS you'll need to get it installed.

Long Time No Blog

Been busy and there hasn't been much to blog about.

But we finally got our demo TCXD 850! Months late but it's finally here. NewTek is having the machines built by an outside vendor and there have apparently been teething pains in working out that relationship so machine are rolling out slowly.

I shot my first basketball game with it Friday night and I liked it a lot. The TCXD300 was never my favorite for this because we like to use three cameras plus one for the scoreboard clock so three inputs was too few. We made good use of the positionable, rotatable, scalable, crop-able DSK for our clock camera which was very cool.


I'll have an in-depth review up in a week or so.
